Actor Gary Sinise will visit Augusta on April 21 to attend the 319th Transportation Co. Vietnam Veterans dinner.

Sinise, who is perhaps best known for his Oscar-nominated portrayal of Lt. Dan Taylor in the 1994 movie Forrest Gump, will also visit the Active Duty Rehabilitation Unit at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, according to a news release from the CSRA Wounded Warrior Care Project. Sinise is also known for his many USO trips.

The dinner will be held at Richmond on Greene at Seventh and Greene streets and will honor wounded warriors. Tickets are available by contacting the CSRA Wounded Warrior Care Project at (706) 434-1707.

Proceeds will be used to help build permanent housing for wounded soldiers who live in Augusta.

I always believe in giving

I always believe in giving credit where credit is due so here it goes.

Gary Sinise has done much for the Veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. He is one of the few, if not the only actors, who I can say has continually visited the troops in combat since the beginning. He continually raises money and support for our veterans, and does not let the hollywood money go to his head by any means. I only wish the rest of hollywood was as greatful as Mr. Sinise for what our military veterans sacrificed.

Thank you Mr. Sinise!

Good to hear a celeb giving

Good to hear a celeb giving back continually like Sinise. Ditto bclicious on wishing the rest of the Hollywood crowd would do the same.
