Ex-Columbia County deputy indicted

A Columbia County grand jury today indicted a former Columbia County sheriff’s deputy accused of sexually assaulting an inmate in October.

Derek Wayne McClure was indicted for sexual assault against a person in custody.

He was fired and arrested Nov. 3. A female inmate of the Columbia County Detention Center told police on Oct. 27 that McClure sexually assaulted her while transporting her from her home to the jail the previous night.

The indictment accuses McClure of touching her breast.

The woman was jailed and charged with disorderly conduct following a domestic dispute, Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris said.

McClure previously worked for the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for nearly 10 years and was hired as a Columbia County deputy in March 2008.

Cops are people. People have

Cops are people. People have problems, if they say they don't they will lie about other things too. Why wasn't that a female deputy? I'm not saying she would not have been groped as some are bulldikes but it would have looked better.
