After more than four months on the run, authorities apprehended a man who escaped their custody.
Eugene Lester Doyle, 38, was picked up by authorities after he held his live-in girlfriend at gunpoint and threatened to kill her inside their home on the 3000 block of Walcott Lane in Hephzibah on Sept. 29.
On the way to the station, Doyle began attempting to kick out the cruiser window, causing the deputy to pull over and call for backup.
Doyle, while still handcuffed, escaped as deputies attempted to put him in leg irons.
He was charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, obstruction of a law enforcement officer and interference with government property.
