Best Western near I-20 robbed again

  • Follow Latest News

The Best Western Hotel on Center West Parkway was robbed for the second time in five days around 7:30 tonight, Richmond County dispatch confirms.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 18 or 19 years old, wearing a black sweatshirt, red bandana and carrying a tan canvas bag. He was last seen headed on foot toward the Country Inn on Center West Parkway, dispatch said.

On Friday, a black man wearing a red bandana robbed the hotel just before 8 p.m. and stole $376 in cash, according to the sheriff's office. The robber reportedly threatened to shoot the clerk, although he never displayed a gun.

People think because it is

People think because it is close to I-20 (like the SunTrust branch on Washington Road that got robbed last week) they can zip up the on-ramp and make a quick getaway. Sometimes they are right. But often they get caught, like the couple who hit the SunTrust branch. At least that seems to be their thought process if they have any functioning brains....

Three hundred and change? He

Three hundred and change? He must be a legend in the armed robbery community! Typically they only score enough to buy a Happy Meal.
He can now retire and leave the country, so I doubt you'll see any more of him.

I need to be careful as some

I need to be careful as some people like to remove my posts as being racist, but isn't the the same description we get for most armed robberies in Augusta? He probably needed the money for a family dinner at IHOP in Orangeburg.

Is anyone able to identify

Is anyone able to identify any characteristics which seem to be consistently found in the descriptions of these gentlemen who rob our hotels, convenience stores, restaurants, banks, etc.? Would it be the tan canvas bag?

Businesses and individuals

Businesses and individuals have to provide their own security it appears these days. I'd hire an off duty policeman to run that motel desk at night wearing his uniform and armed. Larger stores need to hire more police protection. Individuals must protect themselves by having a gun and using electronic security measures.

The police are not here to

The police are not here to protect us. They are only here to clean up the mess after it happens. It is up to US to be armed....LEGALLY....and know HOW TO USE your weapon, and be ready to do so. The local cheerleaders can shout all they want about crime going down in Augusta, but does it matter when YOU are the victim if there were fewer robberies, rapes, assaults or murders this year than last? The big, fat idiot Michael Moore stated on MLK Jr day that in Tuscon AZ there are a vast number of people who carry guns who don't need them because statistically there are very few murders in that town....Uh, excuse me, but that is BECAUSE so many people are carrying weapons! The liberals just don't get it.....Never have.....never will.

Yep in at least one other robbery. Wouldn't be surprised if it's the same guy. Anyone else have a picture of the last tan bagged robber anyone knows about?
I think i have one pic already.

oldfella, I'm all for being

oldfella, I'm all for being armed, but it's better that the clerk hand over the cash and let the disgusting little thief leave.

He's going in ready to shoot, and the clerk will be caught by surprise, packing or not. It's not much of a stretch to think how badly things could go for the hotel employee....
