Vernon Cook of Loris, N.C., sits in his truck Jan. 11, 2011 after being stranded on Interstate 285 for over 24 hours from a winter storm that turned the road into a sheet of ice, Tuesday, in Atlanta.

Trucker Vernon Cook of Myrtle Beach, S.C., said he's been sitting still on the Interstate 285 ramp to I-75 south for almost 24 hours. He said he's seen DOT trucks drive by but they haven't dropped gravel or salt on the icy roads.

DOT spokeswoman Jill Goldberg said crews are doing the best they can but clogged traffic is preventing trucks from reaching many areas of the interstates. Frigid temperatures are also causing areas that have been deiced to freeze again.

Must be irritating to not be

Must be irritating to not be cruising down the interstate 20 to 30 mph over the speed limit or tailgating/bullying other interstate traffic.

I have to agree with

I have to agree with iletuknow, but will say it is not ALL truckers....Just about 98% of them. I travel in excess of 60k miles per year in my job and have had enough bad experiences with rude truckers and truckers with just poor driving skills to despise most of them.

It is 99% of ALL that do

It is 99% of ALL that do it.
Cars do it to, so let's not leave the 4 wheelers out of the equation.
Maybe iletuknow is having a bad day today.

I have rarely had problems

I have rarely had problems with the tractor trailers tailgating me; always seems to be cars or SUV's.
