Police arrest suspect in Aiken shooting

AIKEN -- Aiken Department of Public Safety officers have made an arrest in a Tuesday night shooting.

Officers have  charged Harry Arthur Butler Jr. in a shooting last night in Crosland Park.   He is being charged with attempted murder, unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.  Other charges may be forthcoming, according to a news release. 


Last night, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of Hahn Avenue in Crosland Park just before midnight.

Police found a wounded man, Lance Tyler, 25, of Aiken, in the street with a gunshot wound to the leg. Tyler stated to officers that the person who shot him is known by a street name, "Skip."

Tyler was taken to MCG for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
