Marijuana in mail sends 3 to Savannah jail

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- A package full of marijuana has delivered three people to jail.

On Friday, the Chatham Savannah Counter Narcotics Team and the U.S. Postal Service intercepted a package containing several pounds of marijuana headed to an address in Savannah. The package was delivered by an agent to the residence, where a person signed for the package under a false name, said Gene Harley, CNT spokesman.

Agents took the signer into custody, along with another person at the residence. A search of the residence produced items commonly used in the use and distribution of marijuana.

During the operation, CNT made contact with a third person who thought he was speaking with one of the persons at the residence. An arrangement was made to purchase marijuana, and the person was taken into custody after arriving at the residence.

CNT arrested Amanda Jo Macdonald, 27;  Lawrence Quentin Pennington, 22; and Bradley Andrew Christiansen, 23. All three are being held at the Chatham County jail.
