Marijuana in mail sends 3 to Savannah jail

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- A package full of marijuana has delivered three people to jail.

On Friday, the Chatham Savannah Counter Narcotics Team and the U.S. Postal Service intercepted a package containing several pounds of marijuana headed to an address in Savannah. The package was delivered by an agent to the residence, where a person signed for the package under a false name, said Gene Harley, CNT spokesman.

Agents took the signer into custody, along with another person at the residence. A search of the residence produced items commonly used in the use and distribution of marijuana.

During the operation, CNT made contact with a third person who thought he was speaking with one of the persons at the residence. An arrangement was made to purchase marijuana, and the person was taken into custody after arriving at the residence.

CNT arrested Amanda Jo Macdonald, 27;  Lawrence Quentin Pennington, 22; and Bradley Andrew Christiansen, 23. All three are being held at the Chatham County jail.

All that time, manpower, and

All that time, manpower, and money wasted on a plant. Do you know you would literally have to smoke over 10,000 marijuana joints back to back to back to OD and die. Why can't the feds, the police, and other law enforcement agencies go after true criminals? The reason they can't house rapists, child molesters, and murderers is because they fill our jail with NON-VIOLENT drug offenders such as these...ALL FOR A PLANT! It's ridiculous! Legalize now! Work on getting the harder [filtered word]...coke, meth, heroin, and the pill market off the streets. I've seen far more lives ruin by pain pill addictions or coke addictions or meth addictions. I have yet to see ONE life ruined or lost due to marijuana addiction :-/ It's no worse than alcohol yet everyday I can go to the liquor store and by a bottle and drink myself into liver failure if I so choose. Yet I can't go buy a plant that helps with the back pain I have from a back injury and will have for the rest of my life(I have bad nerve damage that will never heal) without having to worry about going to jail. Ridiculous and a HUGE WASTE of taxpayer money to still be focusing on this >:(
