Authorities have identified the man responsible for a beer theft at a south Augusta gas station on Monday, according to a news release.

An employee told officers the suspect entered the Circle K at 3315 Peach Orchard Road around 10 p.m., grabbed two 30-packs of Budweiser and left without paying.

A tip led officers to 49-year-old Lavert Johnson. The suspect was also identified as being involved in three other incidents since Monday where similar merchandise was taken.

The other locations were C-Mart at 3403 Mike Padgett Highway on Tuesday, Polo Convenience at 2061 Gordon Highway on Wednesday and Polo BP Convenience at 2701 Washington Road on Thursday.
