Allegiant makes first flight from Savannah to South Florida

Allegiant today inaugurates its low-cost, nonstop travel service between Savannah, Ga., and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The company will offer fares as low as $29.99 one way between the two cities. The new flights operate twice weekly between Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, with service Thursday and Sunday.

Flights depart Savannah/Hilton Head at 11:05 a.m. and arrive in Fort Lauderdale at 12:30 p.m. Flights depart Fort Lauderdale at 9 a.m. and arrive in Savannah/Hilton Head at 10:25 a.m.

The carrier will use a full-size, 150-seat MD-80 jet aircraft on the route.

Love it !!! Too bad Augusta couldn't do this to Atlanta...shoot I would fly out of Aug...to Atlanta every weekend at that price ...as it is I drive to Atl...and fly from there.
