Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting Monday afternoon in the 2800 block of Ptarmigan Drive.

Dong Chong, 20, of the 2300 block of Fieldcrest Road, and Fredriqua McClattie, 20, are charged with aggravated assault and criminal attempted robbery after Ladonta Collins, 18, was shot in the head around 4 p.m.

Investigators are still searching for a third suspect, Darius Hempel, 19, of the 2300 block of Fieldcrest Road, who has warrants out for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and attempted robbery.

Investigators describe him as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 145 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call the Richmond County Sheriff's Office at (706) 821-1080.

The report is misleading as

The report is misleading as are most when concerning our side of town. Ptarmigan Road is not in Hephzibah. It has a 30815 zip code. Hephzibah is a city. It has boundaries, commonly referred to as city limit. If is is outside those boundaries, it is NOT in Hephzibah. Why not give the name of the subdivision?

Correct King James.

Correct King James. AugustaVoter, there is no such city as South Augusta, only Augusta, GA and North Augusta, SC. The correct thing to call it is the south side of Augusta but, if the post office considers the address as Hephzibah, then the article is correct, even if it isn't technically in the city of Hephzibah's "boundaries".

AutumnLeaves has cited

AutumnLeaves has cited accurate information about an individual having a Hephzibah address, but does not actually reside in the city of Hephzibah.

Repost with corrections since

Repost with corrections since someone reported it as abuse. (Thanks I needed to correct my typos.) "It is in the Quail Hollow Sub-division. Near the old Super C's off Tobacco Rd. It is definitely NOT in Hephzibah! It is South Augusta. The street is mostly retired military except for a couple of houses. One, the victim, lived with his mom and one, his "boys", live in across the street. People on the street around there are saying the kid who was shot was hunted down. This shooting happened 15 minutes after the funeral ended for last week's victim."

It doesn't matter WHERE in

It doesn't matter WHERE in Aug. it happened. I live in Hephzibah but work on an ambulance in downtown Aug. What matters is that our violent crime rate is rediculously high & things are only getting worse. You could be at Target, walking out of MCG, or going to Jerry's Red & White...location is irrelevant.

A person may die, and all you

A person may die, and all you can do is come on here and debate locations? WHO CARES!! It's yet another shooting, possible death. Up to 33 now if he dies!
I don't give a squash whether it was in 30906, 30907, 30909, 30815. The numbers just keep rising, and we have 2 months to go..
And we use to live in the 30815 area, definately not IN Hephzibah, but your address was Hephzibah, GA. Every area doesn't have its own post office, therefore you use the closest. So yes, the paper and news will report it AS that address. So please stop commenting about area every single time a crime report is reported. Geez

Lori Davis understands that

Lori Davis understands that crime is a problem all over Augusta, not just Harrisburg.. I'm sure your comment is right out of your Deke playbook. I believe Lori is about the only candidate who has actually visited just about every neighborhood in this county and talked directly with the people. Deke feels that this is "beneath" him. And certainly you won't hear Deke speak up on this because because we all know the only part of the city he cares about is a cpouple of blocks along Reynolds Street

Right, I got it directly out

Right, I got it directly out of Deke's "playbook", an alien from "area 51" gave it to me, he and Sasquatch had just got done burning the last evidence of the "second gunman" and had time to cover up Augusta's rampant corruption before he had to go and work on the 9/11 coverup. Laughable!

This is a societal problem caused by a lack of parenting, and values, why should the rest of us care? I see this article for what it is, a warning to stay away from an area that is degenerating, with citizens who are letting it happen. A second incident in less than a week is not a coincidence and until the "stop snitchin" attitudes go away nothings going to change, I say keep letting them kill each other.

Augusta may have hit critical

Augusta may have hit critical mass in its devolution into just another urban jungle. At least it hasn't come to my neighborhood yet.

Until there is a remedy we have gun safety education courses, practice ranges and local gun and ammo dealers to help us hold the line. Law enforcement can't do it because government won't do it.

Dodge City...sad, really sad.

Dodge City...sad, really sad. I hope voters think about all the violent crime that has happened that deke will not even talk about when they vote.

Big_vike, what has your hero Deke done to solve the " societal problem" you blame all this on?

With all the quibbling over

With all the quibbling over the postal zones, what really matters is that a crime was committed and the victim is in critical condition with a life-threatening injury as a result of that crime. The point being: we should be concerned that crime is not going down, but is slowly and steadily going up. There are good programs that have been successful in reducing crime; unfortunately, with the budget cuts, legislators have trimmed the allotments for DOC and DOJ as well as education--we cannot have it both ways. Either we demand that legislators cut the pork-barrel and other frivalous legislation and leave the rehabilitative programs alone or we will have to live with the results.

brad the money is crime
Unpublished

brad the money is crime itself, if you are commissioner in a more affluent district, such as the hill area-j.bowles, for example what political benefit is there for him to assist in lowering crime in south augusta??? come election time without doing the bidding of mr. morris(tee center) or mr. ripkin(baseball stadium), mostly funded with taxpayer money i may add(contrary to the ranting of his idol-limbaugh), what can he tell his constituents he did for them???? so it is more politacally feasable to vote for public financing of a baseball stadium and tee center so he can hold that up as tangible proof of his accomplishments. whereas to vote for increased funding for more police, more and bigger jail space offers no direct tangible benefits to him come election time. brad the increased gun violence is a symptom of the dysfunctional gov't they each look out for what is in the best intrests of themselves and what it would take to remain in power not realizing most if not all successful cities become that way from the inside out...improve schools, effective law enforcement and and low crime rates and a "no none-sense" approach to any and all crime issues, taking a serious approach to quality of life crimes/issues, eliminating urban blight and a commission or goernment willing to sacrifice for the good of the city as a whole not just the area they represent
