Davidson teacher wins state math award

A veteran Richmond County public school math teacher has won a statewide award.

Susan Craig, who teaches Advanced Placement calculus part time at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, was presented the Gladys M. Thomason Award during a state mathematics conference last week, the Richmond County School System announced today.

Craig has worked in the district for more than 30 years. The award is based on her dedication to improving math instruction and is the highest honor given by the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the district said in a news release.

In 1985, she received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics for the state of Georgia.
