Public's help sought in catching Aiken burglar

AIKEN -- Aiken County Sheriff's investigators are asking the public's help in identifying a burglary suspect.

According to a news release the break-in took place about 3:45 p.m. Monday at Palmetto Motors, 1901 Alan Ave  The suspect is a black male wearing a black jacket, a black hat and what appears to be a goatee.  Security images showed the suspect leaving in a silver car that appears to be a Chrysler 300. 

The burglar pried open a window to gain entry and stole a safe that contained cash and checks, police said. Anyone with information concerning the identity of the subject should contact Sheriff's Investigator Brad Wertz at (803) 642-1789.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office: (800) 922-9709. Individuals also should call
Crimestoppers of the Midlands: (888) CRIME – SC.

Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of between $50 and $1,000.
