Davidson student named to state student panel

A local student has been named to the state Student Advisory Council, the Georgia Department of Education announced today.

Tierra Sanders, who attends Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, was one of 50 students State Superintendent of Schools Brad Bryant named to the council for the 2010-11 school year.

These students will meet three times throughout the school year to advise Bryant and the department on how state policies are affecting classrooms. The council will also discuss other education-related issues and will serve as Bryant's ambassadors in their respective schools, according to a department news release.

The first meeting will be held Oct. 25 at the department's headquarters in Atlanta.
