A shot was fired and one man beaten during a robbery Wednesday outside an apartment building on the 400 block of East Boundary Avenue.

The victim told investigators he was approached by the robbers at a downtown club around 2:45 a.m. and asked for a ride to the apartments.

When he arrived, the men brandished pistols and were joined by a third robber who came up on foot and fired a shot through the car's front window, a report said.

The victim was ordered out of the car and into the woods behind the apartments, where he was stripped naked and beaten. The robbers remain at large.

Is this considered a sexual

Is this considered a sexual assault due to the man being stripped naked?

Deke, where are you on the crime wave?

Say something!

Sometimes I think we are trapped in the movie Brazil and the Ministry of Information keeps feeding us, "All is well...nothing is wrong...the 13 year campaign of bombing is just beginners luck."

deke isin training for next

deke isin training for next years ironman competition and cannot be bothered with mundane items such as crime. This story is a perfect example of why downtown will never prosper. Unless and untill the mayor, the commissioners and local government officials take crime seriously Augusta will never be revitalilzed.

Where's SuperDeke? He should

Where's SuperDeke? He should fly on to this scene (dressed in brightly colored spandex) to end this dastardly deed. Then he should make a 3am call to the local paper to get a comment out to the pipples.
Doesn't Deke know how a real mayor is supposed to act?

or

Deke can work within the system to do something about the HUGE population of subsidy citizens sucking the city dry while acting like a group of wild creatures.

Of course, either action would be politically incorrect to someone so the whining would continue.

This has nothing to do with

This has nothing to do with the Mayor. This has to do with personal choices. If you pick up strangers and take them any where at 3:00 AM, don't be shocked if something bad happens. Lay on an active train track, don't be surprised f you get ran over by a train.

I would really like to know

I would really like to know what the Mayor could have done to stop this crime. A man comes out of a club downtown and gets asked by two strangers to take him to East Boundary. The man takes them and gets robbed. What is the Mayor supposed to do about people being stupid.

Really I am sorry if the man was hurt but picking up strangers at 2:45 and taking them to East Boundary and you want to blame the Mayor? My Mom taught me at an early age not to pick up strangers...sometimes Forrest had it right Stupid is as Stupid does.

Why not Dani? People ask for

Why not Dani?
People ask for rides all the time, all times of the night. It is up to the one asked on whether they make the stupid choice to give it.
Story sounds pretty much cut and dry, out clubbing, want a ride, plan on robbing the person. Why is this news?? This appears in the news every week because it happens so frequently.
Yes County, I know.. Downtown is a safe area!

Nerthus, I agree wit you. The

Nerthus, I agree wit you. The Mayor has nothing to do with this. It could have happen to anyone of us. No one can just put their social life on hold all the time due to crimes everywhere. So what the man gave some people a ride. The problem is, HE WAS ROBBED. Everytime something goes on everyone always talking about well you shouldnt have did this, shouldnt have did that, you shouldnt have been here or there. Forget all that!! A crime was committed and justice should be served. Just because things appear a certain way doesnt always mean that it is that way.
FRED1 - what paying for homes that cost $130,000 - $170,000 in the inner city got to do with it??? Nothing. Crime is happening everywhere. Example: The judge that killed the guy that came in his home. I know the judge home cost about $250,000 or better. Its not always a rich, poor, or race situation. Its a society as an whole issue. So it doesnt matter where you live, what schools or college you attended, where you work, or who you socialize with that determine if crime is going to happen around you or come knocking at your front door. Boy if I was an trial, I would hate to see a few of you on my jury trial!!!

@ Rollineyes, dang! I totally missed it, what WAS stolen?? lol
How do you call it a robbery if nothing was taken? Wouldn't this in fact be an attempted robbery?? Again, no clarification in the article.
Oh and no, it is not lost on me that once AGAIN, there is no description of the *robbers*!!

For everyone saying where was

For everyone saying where was Deke, where were you? If you got time to flap your gums and lay blame, get downtown and do something about it. Nobody likes a finger pointer and a "I told you so" if your so smart and energetic, run for mayor, get elected and then run around town in your "bat mobile" stopping crime, or let stupid people, who make stupid decisions, face the consequences of those actions. Nothing good happens out on the streets after 11:00 P.M. anywhere in Augusta, if you are out that late, hanging out at clubs, and not aware of the danger then you are setting yourself up for failure and all the police can do is identify your body for your Next of Kin.

Pommom38... This incident took place in Eastbound and not the Central Business District..
