How about appropriate

How about appropriate headlines? How about some decent information when listing breaking news - especially criminal in nature. At the very least within an hour, you can let the community know about what happened, if suspects are under arrest or roaming the area and their descriptions, etc. Newspapers are almost a thing of the past and soon will be. The only way for the AC to stay in the game is to bring us breaking news and updated it quickly and acurately - too often, this is all we ever get.

The AC also has a duty to be

The AC also has a duty to be responsible and to verify facts- and not print unsubstantiated reports.

When "no other information is available at this time" they can't very well make up stuff, can they?

It's better to delay being right than to rush to be wrong. Especially in today's society, when one shooting often leads to another.

To say "within the hour"- shooting investigations don't work that way. They ARE letting you know what happened- as soon as they know it.

"Within the hour"- it's not like you see on TV or in the movies.

Sometimes they don't know who the suspect is for days, weeks, months- and sometimes, never.

It's not as if someone shoots somebody and then calls up the AC and says, "Looky here, I'm checking in to tell you what I did, and let me spell my name for you so you get it right."

Geeze Louise.

Let's see, what social situation would lead to a shooting ever 3 or 4 days in a given area?
What could possibly be the common link between the vast majority of these shootings?
