Teleperformance to double its staff in next two months

Augusta center will employ 300 more staffers

Teleperformance USA has announced that it will hire more than 300 additional people for its Augusta customer service center.

Hiring began Friday and will continue until November, said Marcie Ballard, vice president of recruiting.

"It is for a major wireless company that we have secured a new line of business, one of our existing clients," Ballard explained.

Teleperformance works with all of the major cell phone providers, but Ballard would not disclose which of them the new hiring is tied to serving.

"We need to have those folks hired by the end of November," Ballard said.

The hiring will double the number of people working in Augusta for the outsourcing firm.

Teleperformance USA opened in June 2008. The 50,000 square foot customer service center is in the Waccamaw Building on Wylds Road near the Augusta Mall.

Ballard said the firm currently serves three different clients out of its Augusta facility.

Ballard said the new employees would make $10 per hour.
