Ga. man gets 13-plus years in Pa. 'sexting'

TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. — A Georgia man will spend more than 13 years in prison for soliciting sexually suggestive photos of a 13-year-old northeastern Pennsylvania girl.

Fifty-three-year-old Scott P. Swanson of Hiawassee, Ga., was sentenced to 160 months in federal prison Thursday by U.S. District Judge Edwin Kosik.

Swanson solicited photos of the Tunkhannock Area Middle School student after seeing her seminude picture on the Internet.

The girl was one of 20 teens that Wyoming County District Attorney George Skumanick threatened with child pornography charges after school officials confiscated cell phones containing racy photos of teenage girls in 2008. She wasn't charged but completed an educational course on pornography created by the DA.

Swanson had pleaded guilty to aiding the production of child pornography in May.
