Home invasion prompts marijuana arrest

A home invasion call Tuesday led to a North Augusta man being arrested for possession of marijuana, according to an incident report.

Two men said they were alone at a friend's home on the 1000 block of Skyview Drive in North Augusta when they heard a knock at the door about 10:30 p.m., police said. The friend who answered the door told officers he was immediately struck in the face with a silver handgun.

The two gunmen made the victims lie on the ground while they searched the men and the residence, police said.

But when homeowner, Christopher Watson, drove up in the yard, the headlights frightened the gunmen, who ran from the home and jumped over a fence, police said. Victims said they thought they heard gunfire as the men ran from the home.

Officers on the scene discovered a substance believed to be marijuana in the backyard in a Mason jar. More marijuana was discovered inside the residence.

Watson, 33, was charged with possession with intent to distribute.
