32 illegal immigrants arrested in Georgia

  • Follow Latest News

Federal authorities have arrested 32 illegal immigrants in central and south Georgia who they say are accused of committing crimes or fled after a judge ordered them to leave the country.

They were rounded up in a four-day operation that ended Friday and took place in Houston, Peach, Bibb, Dougherty, Toombs and Thomas counties.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Ivan Ortiz-Delgado says many of the illegal immigrants are subject to immediate removal since they have outstanding deportation orders or were previously deported.

The rest will stay in custody until their criminal cases are completed, they get a hearing before an immigration judge or travel arrangements out of the country can be made.

With a little more

With a little more investigation, the Feds & ICE could find many more illegals, if only they would seek out. They are not hard to find. Just look around.

Delta is ready if some panty

Delta is ready if some panty waist judge ever decides to actually send them home. The cost of the plane ticket would be less than keeping them locked up for a month.

You treat these people as if

You treat these people as if they are cattle to round up. You also have the mind of a profiler. If people would get off of their butts and work, (and yes, probably some of your relatives....cause usually it is the lower class who complain and talk about others to feel better about their own pathetic lives), we would not rely on the "illegals" so much. Nevertheless, they are among us and contributing a heck of a lot more than most.

Michael, did you read the article? These 32 had already been convicted of committing crimes or were awaiting trial for crimes and had fled. Patch up that bleeding heart.

I can't see where they

I can't see where they contribute. The vast majority are "independent contractors", therefore they get a federal 1099 form rather than a W-2. They pay no federal or state income tax,nor social security. They use free medical services, and schools if their children are with them.
Also, I am solid middle class and proud to be blue-collar, and I complain about the illegals to anybody who will listen.

I advocate the Lou Dobbs

I advocate the Lou Dobbs solution. Use existing federal laws to arrest their employers. With no jobs they will"self-deport".

The rule of law cuts both

The rule of law cuts both ways. The same immigration law that says someone is illegal also has procedures for removal proceedings in an immigration court. A state court judge has no authority to put anyone on a plane to a foreign country. An immigration judge can order someone removed but even then there are appeals. Once appeals are over ICE still has to obtain travel documents to be able to send the alien to his country. Do you think Iran or Vietnam care about a U.S. immigration removal order? If the alien's country won't issue a travel document we can't put them on a plane. If you think ICE isn't doing its job tell me where all the empty jails and detention centers are located waiting to be filled with immigration detainees. Jails and detention centers are packed. Law enforcement has to prioritize the use of resources. Think about it. If law enforcement locked up everyone with a drug habit or owed child support where would we put all of these people? Resources have to be used wisely. Of course there are far more illegal aliens than could ever be detained and removed just like there are far more people abusing illegal drugs than could ever be arrested and prosecuted. Does every speeder get pulled over? ICE deports people everyday but it's only a drop in the bucket.

I know for a fact that Thomas

I know for a fact that Thomas county is absolutely LOADED with illegals. They are in their schools, on their winning sports teams and they are working without paying taxes.

This illegal immigrant situation is a real problem. But rest easy folks, obama has a plan. Soon they'll be standing in line beside you to vote.

You may be right Airbud. I

You may be right Airbud. I can think of not many reasons why someone would support having illegals here.
Yea, they contribute alright. To the welfare office line, to the western union by sending all that cash home, and the list goes on and on and on.
Keep at it, there are tons more that need to go home!!

I repeat, if they didn't have

I repeat, if they didn't have a JOB, they would not be here. I'm so hard-headed about it, that I will not do any business with anyone who employs them.

Well, then you might as well

Well, then you might as well quit buying fruit and vegetables because who do you think does the picking and harvesting?
I am completely for better control of our borders. However, it's a Fox News fairy tale to think hard working but unemployed americans would be out in the fields picking were it not for all the cheap mexican labor. And, no, it wouldn't help if farmers paid more. That would drive up the price of goods and we would simply import more. Besides, our unemployed just aren't going to do that work.
Of course, this article was about rounding up illegals that weren't really contributing positively to our society. No-brainer to get rid of them. However, the hard-working ones - we need some way to allow them to come in and work seasonally and we still get to tax their wages.

Local Interest, we have had

Local Interest, we have had that since the forty's. However, they were called migrants , and they moved with the harvest. They were documented and paid taxes. What I am talking about is illegals, coming and staying. Abusing all the aid programs, and gradually taking all the blue collar jobs.
Airbud posted while I was typing, but that's two of us.
