Two injured in south Ga. plane crash

SPRINGFIELD, Ga. --- The crash of a single-engine airplane during take-off at a private airport in Effingham County sent two men to Memorial University Medical Center.

The Saturday crash, at the Briar Patch Airport on Green Morgan School Road in Clyo, caused "extensive damage" to the aircraft, Effingham County sheriff's spokesman David Ehsanipoor said.

No information on the condition of the injured was available. The two men from Midway were the only people on board the aircraft and no other injuries were reported.

Federal Aviation Administration officials are on their way to investigate, Ehsanipoor said.
