SAN ANTONIO — A woman believed to be the mother of a Texas seventh-grade volleyball player pulled a gun on a rival team celebrating a lopsided win over her daughter's outmatched squad, officials said today.
Girls on the Kirby Middle School volleyball team fled when the woman confronted them with a gun Thursday night in the parking lot and threatened to shoot, Judson school district spokesman James Keith said. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Authorities believe the woman is the mother of a player from Metzger Middle School, which had just been beaten soundly.
No arrests had been made as of early today. Keith said the school district believed they had identified the woman.
"She was irate during the game," Keith said. "My understanding, according to the principal, is that the Metzger team lost pretty bad. They were getting hit with balls during the game and were just outmatched."
Keith said girls on the Kirby team had left the gym and were walking to their bus after the game, laughing and celebrating, when the woman approached and threatened to kill one or more of them.
The woman took off in a maroon-colored car, and school police reviewed surveillance tape to try and identify the woman. At least six witnesses saw the incident, Keith said.
The Judson school district is in northeast San Antonio.
Wow. Poor child that has to live with this. Humiliation should be the catalyst to better oneself, not resort to violence.
Are we getting to the point where a psycological profile is needed before becoming a parent?
That is just bad manners to celebrate that hard when you have already won. Kind of like rubbing the other teams face in it. I bet they won't laugh so hard next time they win a game. They will just quietly walk away and celebrate in silence. If not they just might get shot! Or maybe next time they skip the volleyball and just bring guns and start shooting each other and the last one standing wins.
This is what happens when prayer is taken out of schools and before athletic events. No doubt that the mother is a part of the entitlement crowd living off her Obama money. . . which is really my money. Enough is enough.
Palmetto, I didn't read in the article anything about prayer or welfare. Can't we actually blame the person who did the deed?
LOL LOL this is so funny. Palmetto I agree with praying and the negative points of leaving God out of school but Taylor is right. Your post really doesn't have anything to do with this situation. The woman who pulled a gun is just nuts!
palmetto1007 that was an idiotic statement. There is nothing in the article that pertains to the woman's social class or her religous belief. I bet you blame Obama when you stub your toe instead of you're own clumsiness.
If y'all don't like what I have to say, you need to watch some fair and balanced news reporting about the way things are today....especially Ben Gleck.

LOL, was that on purpose or just plain stupid? It's Glen Beck. LOL
I juss read this story in the Houston Chronicle and it reports the police says there was conflicting reports from the kids (girls) and there have been inconsistencies in there stories. Search warrants have not turned up any kind of weapons in the lady's car or home. Due to the girls inconsistent stories and the fact no weapons have been found it states that no charges will be filed.
Thanks curly, if she didn't do anything then we can all be glad because guns and situation like this can get someone hurt.
It would be interesting to see the video of the game, and especially the behavior of the players, the coaches, and fans on both sides. Good sportsmanship goes a long way.
