All public schools in the Blythe-Hephzibah area have been on “soft lockdown” since about 9 a.m. today, said Richmond County school system spokesman Louis Svehla.
This is basically a state of heightened awareness and prohibits any outdoor activity by students, he said. Visitors are allowed in and out, but they are closely monitored, and students can move between classes.
This is a precaution while authorities continue to search for Franklin Wright, a suspect in several violent crimes, Svehla said. Someone told police they thought they saw Wright in the Blythe area Thursday night.
Blythe and the actual city limits of Hephzibah are very rural, quiet, and low crime... Blythe is only 1k and the city limits of Hephzibah are only 6k.... These are perfect areas for a fugitive to hide in... I think Hephzibah may only have a total of 3-4 police cars and Blythe probably 0-1.
How does he get managed to get around so frequently if he's homeles?? Does he catch rides with strangers? He lives in Aiken County(Beech Island) and somehow got to Augusta and now he might be in Hephzibah or Blythe...
