Profile to be released in Aiken slaying

AIKEN -- After two years of no named suspects in the murder of a Kennedy Middle School teacher, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division will release a criminal profile of the suspect on Wednesday.

Ann Fox Smith, a special education teacher, was found stabbed to death in her home on Whitney Drive in Aiken on Aug. 25, 2008, after she didn’t show up for work.

The profile was developed by Michael Prodan, with SLED’s behavioral science unit, according to Aiken Public Safety.

In the past two years, Smith’s daughter and one of her sons were ruled out as suspects, according to Public Safety Spokesman Lt. David Turno. Her husband, Wilson Smith, Jr., and son Wilson Smith, III, are still cooperating with investigators in the case, Turno said.

Anyone with information in the case can call Crime Stoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
