Warner Robins police chief suspended

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Warner Robins police Chief Brett Evans has been suspended for seven days without pay for violating city rules and regulations during last fall's election.

Mayor Chuck Shaheen said Wednesday that the move follows harassment claims by a member of the police department. A mediator couldn't substantiate the harassment claims but in a report, she mentioned political activity violations by Evans.

The report says he vocally campaigned to his department in favor of mayoral candidate Chuck Chalk, though city ordinance restricts city employees from visibly campaigning for someone running for office.
