Soldiers threw grenade simulators at crowd

DAWSONVILLE, Ga.  — Three soldiers based at Camp Merrill in north Georgia are facing charges of aggravated assault after grenade simulators were tossed at a crowd in Dawson County.

Dawson County deputies say the devices were tossed out of a car early Sunday at a group of 16 people, including two children, and one explosive went off.

Authorities say no one was injured.

Investigators say the men tossed at least 11 more devices into a ditch along Georgia 400 as they tried to get away.
