A man was fatally shot shortly before midnight Friday at an Edgefield County residence.
Theodore Campbell, 27, of Johnston, S.C., died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to Deputy Coroner David Burnett.
The incident took place at 21 Hayes Drive, North Augusta, according to Deputy Robbie Harter of the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office, who said Campbell did not live at the residence where the incident occurred.
okay was this story even worth putting in the paper absolutely no info at all
Richmnd I understand where you are coming from if this is drug-related but please remember someone is dead today and someone else is mourning and planning a funeral. Regardless of what the person who was killed did in his/her life they were still a human being.
Richmnd - Justice is absolutely correct. We don't even know who this person is. The family is grieving enough.
Dani you don't know the story or how his/she was with her/his family. Someone is dead. DEAD. Meaning they will never get up again! Regardless of the circumstances they were still a human being. I'm glad you all seem to live perfect lives and never make mistakes. Must be nice living in perfect...
Edgefield is quickly becoming Northwest Augusta.
First I am sorry for this loss of life. Second I find it uncalled for, for the sorry comments without knowing the facts of this incident.
It will be nice when school starts back because these reoprters will be back in class.
It appears that Theodore Campbell was not there on a social visit.
This criminal activity has to STOP. It is ruining countless lives.
When you are doing wrong, you accept the risk of something bad happening.
What if an innocent neighbor would've been shot, or a police officer? Would you be sympathetic then?
"I'm glad you all seem to live perfect lives and never make mistakes."
I make mistakes all the time. But I don't run around with druggies, I don't run around with criminals, and I don't go to people's houses at midnight and go through their back door. Because I know that's a good way to have bad things happen.
Those are not "mistakes", those are deliberate choices by people well old enough to know better.
You got that right corgi. Sounds like it was a home invasion, if so...hey occupational hazard, it was your choice!!!
If this was a home invasion ...excellent solution to a growing crime problem...........keep those guns loaded homeowners.
If someone plays with GANGS or DRUGS, they should know the consequences. It should not be a surprise.
Another man was found dead in HIS home in the same neighborhood 3 weeks ago.
Campbell was one of 4 who broke into a house and, at least one of them, pulled a gun. One of the 4 the men at the house (watching TV) pulled a gun and shot were exchanged. There was a woman at the home but she was in the bathroom when it all went down. Campbell was shot three times, once in the chest and twice in the arm. He ran out with his fellow hoodlums and died. His buddies left him behind. The other killing 3 weeks ago went down about the same way but only 1 person (that we know of) went in and did the shooting. IF you want information on Edgefield County, as momstr59 said, you have to go to http://www.EdgefieldDaily.com b/c they are the only ones that get "the real story"
Thanks getreal2012!! I didnt even know this paper existed, I only knew of the Aiken Standard. Goooo resident!! Too bad they only killed one of the losers, but hey, we got to start somewhere. Hopefully time will run out for the other wastes of flesh very very soon!!!!
The other shooting was on Eagle Rd, not the same neighborhood. Eagle Rd is about a mile from Hayes Dr on hyw 25. they got crack out of both houses. Sort of, crack - check, guns - check, trailer - check, lots of traffic to the house - check (drug dealers?), shoot at 11:45 at night - check, taking up for the lowlifes - check.
