The Richmond County Sheriff's Office Special Investigation Section began investigating 46-year-old Troy Curry after receiving a tip.

Investigators stopped Curry in his Augusta Utilities work truck around 11 a.m. at the 1700 block of Walton Way, according to Richmond County sheriff's Captain Scott Peebles.

Curry had 8 grams of crack cocaine and more than $1,600 in cash in the vehicle at the time.

Peebles said he has a history of cocaine-related convictions.

"History of cocaine related

"History of cocaine related convictions". See! Every time you pay your taxes they are used to support bad things that hurt the very taxpayer that paid it. We saw a city truck lurking near the back parking lot where one of our renters had her brand new bike stolen from. Ever notice all the crack dealers riding all the girls bikes or repainted bikes all over? Did the truck also have a bike in the back or have they even bothered to look? Join the National Taxpayers Union. Redirect your taxes from being used to hurt U.S. as now, back to being used for U.S. as claimed.

My biggest problem with this

My biggest problem with this article is "history of cocaine related convictions". How many times has he been convicted before, what were his sentences, how much time did he serve and what rehab and follow up did he go through?

According to the Department

According to the Department of Corrections website he has 5 cocaine charges, a forgery, credit card fraud and concealed weapons charge. He has served 4 prison sentences OhWell again we will give him 3 squares and a cot. Does the city not do background checks?

They just printed a speech

They just printed a speech impediment in this story, "wa was booked." Besides that, doesn't the city do background checks before they hire new employees? Given this guys criminal history, he should have never been hired.

I guess the staff proofreads

I guess the staff proofreads after they post stories because the typed speech impediment is gone. The last sentence still needs to be corrected though. "Peebles said he has a history of cocaine-related convictions," makes it sound like Peebles could be talking about himself. Replace the pronoun he with Curry so that readers clearly understand that Peebles is talking about Curry.

This will end up being that

This will end up being that he was set-up because he's black.!!!!! The only difference between Augusta and other cities is the personnel dept. will hire him back.

Apex24, the phrase "because

Apex24, the phrase "because he's Black" is a cop-out no matter who says it. I've tried to teach my kids that no one gives anything, and no one takes anything away simply because they are Black. No matter how you slice it, Curry is an embarrassment to the Black community and to the City of Augusta as a whole. For you to insinuate that he will claim he was set-up because he's Black, get off, and be hired back is ridiculous. Drugs are bad for the Black community which means Curry is bad for the Black community; and what's bad for the Black community is ultimately bad for the City of Augusta as a whole. Part of the problem is that the Black community is always thought of by all citizens Black, white, and other as separate from the rest of the city. This type of thinking is what's ruining Augusta. Mr. Curry should remain in jail until his trial, and then be sentenced to the maximum punishment allowed by law. With that said, he should not have any hope of ever working for the City of Augusta again.

And this is the kind of guy

And this is the kind of guy Augusta Utilities hires to send around to our houses to scope everything out? Glad they caught him now before Augusta Utilities made him a supervisor. This probably explains a lot about the thieving going on down there and the quality of people employed by them.

There was a city work truck

There was a city work truck parked by my house a few weeks ago but the dark tinting of it's windows prevented me from seeing inside the truck. It left as I was approaching to inquire why it was setting there so long.

Old brother Edward M.

Old brother Edward M. McIntyre was the one that got Augusta going. Going down the hill to its destruction. With the idiots you citizens of Augusta vote to the city council what do you expect? More crack heads, more robbers and more murders all brought on by the entitlement programs and the guvamint schools.

Why do you think he won't be a supervisor in Augusta Utilities? He just had a little crack.

What about background checks?

What about background checks? Did any one do one? NOW, with this finding, all utilities workers should have a background check. OH WELL, was able to look up info, why cant the secretaries do a little snooping on each one? I believe HR should be responsible for the hiring of this individual and should be dealt with harshly.

Oh, what's the use, I've said

Oh, what's the use, I've said it all before. Suffice to say, I'm not the least surprised. And flipa, at some point at least five, possibly 10 of those re-painted bikes being used to traffic were probably stolen from my neighbor and myself over a couple of years. I have reason to believe you are right about them being used for drug-trafficking, well, except for the one a neighbor stole from my daughter and re-painted it his daughter's favorite color (according to the poor guy that realized he'd done it for him when he saw a picture of my daughter with her birthday bike) and gave it to his own daughter the next month for HER birthday. I never confronted him about it for his daughter's sake. I think she figured it out, though, because she could never look me in the eye after that.

OnlyinAgs2, how do we verify if Troy Curry is his name or Troy Carpenter, or both? Could one be an alias? The photos I've seen of Troy Curry sure look like this guy.
