FLORENCE, S.C — Authorities say a South Carolina deputy who shot and killed suspects in incidents less than three weeks apart has been cleared in both shootings.
Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone told multiple media outlets that investigations by the State Law Enforcement Division found deputy Dane Keefe was justified in both incidents.
Authorities say on May 9, Keefe was fired on by a suspect in the shootings of two other people in Lake City and returned fire, killing 30-year-old Adrian Pressley.
Boone says Keefe was placed on leave, but allowed to return after being cleared by a psychologist.
Investigators say on May 28, Keefe killed 20-year-old Deangelo Foxworth outside a nightclub after Foxworth refused to drop his weapon following a shootout in the parking lot.
