WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A pastor says he wants Warner Robins High School to rid itself of its demon mascot.

Pastor Donald Crosby of Kingdom Builders Church of Jesus Christ has been collecting petition signatures from those who agree that the school his son will soon attend should dump the horned, pitchfork-wielding mascot. He says a pitchfork-wielding mascot sends the wrong message to teens.

Ellen Ziesenhene, a senior at the school, says the mascot is simply a tradition.

Principal Steve Monday says the mascot originated during World War II and was adopted in honor of a fighter squadron nicknamed the "Screamin' Demons." He says the nickname is patriotic.

Crosby says he put in a request for his son to be transferred to another school, but says it's unlikely it will be approved.

My Lincoln County relatives

My Lincoln County relatives include an uncle and a cousin who graduated from Lincoln County High School, home of the Red Devils; both of them are now Baptist preachers. Didn't seem to harm them.

So a pastor, who is granted

So a pastor, who is granted tax breaks due to his religion and whose employer is exempt from paying property taxes, is protesting the nickname of a public school.......yep I smell the hypocrisy and it is wretched.

"Crosby??? Oh yeah, your dad

"Crosby??? Oh yeah, your dad is the retard that wanted us to change our mascot."
Better hope the transfer request is approved, preacher. Schoolkids are not the most forgiving creatures. :))

I don't think the pastor

I don't think the pastor understands how much money this would cost. Just think. This school is known for its football program. Is his church going to pay for new jerseys, cheerleader cloths, banners, programs...etc, etc, etc?
Not to mention he just made his kids' life hell with the other students.

ATTENTION: ALL PASTORS,

ATTENTION: ALL PASTORS, PREACHERS, PREIST, FATHERS or whatever you want to be called. Religion has no place in a public school. Keep your convictions to yourself.

OMG lashawn, calm down. I

OMG lashawn, calm down. I hope you are being sarcastic. If you are worried about the sports mascot of the school influencing your child's behavior and beliefs, you must not have much faith in your child or your ability as a parent to constructively discuss things with your child.

By the way lashawn, when you post in all caps it's like yelling at someone to make them take your side. Yelling doesn't make you correct, it only makes you loud.

This is the most ridiculous

This is the most ridiculous "news" story I've read all day. There are much more important things to concern yourself with.
