SAVANNAH, Ga. -- A man who allegedly grew angry over a neighbor trying to cut some grass near his marijuana plant patch Tuesday afternoon was arrested after he tried to grab a Savannah-Chatham police officer's gun, the department announced.
About 2 p.m. metro police was called to a trailer park on Ogeechee Road west of Chatham Parkway on a report of a disorderly man.
The man suspected of being disorderly, identified as Edgar Lee Hamrick, 47, argued with an officer, which elevated to a physical fight. Hamrick also twice tried to grab the officer's gun, said Gena Moore, metro police spokeswoman.
"Yes, sir, fists were being thrown," Moore said. "It's going to get violent when you try to take an officer's gun.
"The suspect is going straight to jail."
A second officer armed with a Taser arrived and deployed his less-than-lethal weapon twice, which eventually brought the suspect back in order, she said.
Neither Hamrick nor the officer was injured, she said.
The Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team also was called to the scene to investigate the marijuana patch. The suspect currently faces two felony obstruction charges. A drug charge is pending, she said.
this fool is lucky to still be breathing. You go for an officers weapon, you might just get to see it.
Now you should know better to cut down trailer park pot--they will kick your butt and go to jail before you mess with their smoke--what's wrong with people these days!
And some still claim smoking pot doesn't impair their thinking. C'mon, it is called dope for a reason.
Still, nice to have a story to chuckle about among the doom and gloom.
All they needed to report was "police called to trailer park".
He wins the WBEK Crime Reports & Rewards Dumb crook of the week award.
If it were only legal. I'm sure pot heads would become deacons and be pillars of the community if they were buying state regulated and taxed dope.
LMAO! This is one of the funniest true stories I've head in a long time!
