COLUMBUS, Ga. - A federal jury has convicted a former Fort Benning civilian employee accused of funneling more than $4 million in military contracts to a company headed by his sister.

Brandy Donini-Melanson of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston says Allen Thrower, 58, of Fortson, was found guilty on Wednesday of nine counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States after a weeklong trial. He faces up to 20 years in prison for each wire fraud count, five years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

Thrower's sister, 55-year-old Marie Cimino of Groveland, Mass., pleaded guilty in February to making false statements to a government agency and received two years' probation.
Thrower's sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 21.
