Shooting at Columbia County motel

  • Follow Latest News

Authorities responded to the Quality Inn on Jimmy Dyess Parkway near Interstate 20 at about 4:45 p.m. after shots were fired at the hotel, Columbia County sheriff’s Sgt. Russell Canterbury said.

A man who had been shot in the hand was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Canterbury said. The man, who has not been identified, did not give much detail about the incident before he was transported.

Police are looking for two black men driving a dark vehicle in connection to the shooting.

Well partners, anytime a potato gun is involved, it is a major investigation of local, state and federal agencys. Apparently a common shooting isn't much of a problem anymore, it is only a buzz for the sheriffs to ask for more money.

I dont think Trey and Baron

I dont think Trey and Baron denied it, they just wished you guys would keep them at home in RC. The ones that live here now, most of them anyway, are subsidy relocations from RC. =) Thank a bleeding heart today!!!

That area of of Columbia
Unpublished

That area of of Columbia county has become the "corridor" for Richmond County scum elements, slowly creeping into our county like a cancer. I hope Sheriff Whittle adds some patrols out that way. Keep the drive-bys, and south Augusta gangs on the southside where they've already turned the place into a war zone. It would help if the hotel owners would be more selective on who they rent rooms to. Besides selling drugs some of those renters go to these cheaper hotels and pile 6-8 people in them to party and enjoy the air conditioning they don't have at home.

Braggarts don't do themselves

Braggarts don't do themselves any favors telling others how much better off they are than someone else. Besides being unattractive, "A fool and his gold are soon parted". Just keep advertising and don't be surprised when the "specials" are tested.

Some of these CC residents

Some of these CC residents tend to crack me up... They have to blame their crime on RC to make them feel better, were not buying it one bit..

There are tons of more CC residents in the RC jail, compared to the other way around.. Anybody can drive to the RC probation office next to 401 and see for themselves... Check the county tags on the vehicles in the parking lot...

Hey Countyman, has it sunk

Hey Countyman, has it sunk into you yet that crime is rising?

How's your crystal ball coming on the homicide predictions? Did you notice that RC homicides have taken a sharp increase? Maybe you need to get your crystal ball a tuneup, it doesn't look good.

And yeah, it makes perfect

And yeah, it makes perfect sense that there are a lot of CC residents in RC jail. "Birds of a feather flock together"- they go to RC where they can hang with all the other homie criminals, and buy their drugs.

Wow - how did some nothing

Wow - how did some nothing article about a shooting turn into a major CC / RC debate. There is more crime in RC but it makes sense that counties with higher populations will have higher crime. There is no gate in CC, no backround check process to enter the area. There are a lot of high income areas that see low crime rates but it is no secret that socio-economics play a huge factor in crime statistics, or at least the type of crime committed. Be nice people - we are all neighbors and increased crime in either county has the potential to spread in either direction.

The myth that Columbia County

The myth that Columbia County is crime free is sustained by a combined effort from the clueless media, greedy realtors, and slimy politicians to maintain its desirability as "the place" to live in the CSRA. There are good and bad areas in Richmond, Aiken, AND Columbia counties to live. Nobody can brag about the superiority of their own county.

No one ever said CC is crime

No one ever said CC is crime free. If you can't even get that detail correct, how would anyone take anything else said by you with more than a grain of salt. But yes, there are good and bad everywhere and always has been. The key word is "lower" not non existent. Thanks to CC letting in the subsidies which bring nothing more than a large mass of people with no pride, no work ethic and no morals, the crime is rising. Now the CCSO and the community out here have to work twice as hard to keep these scumbags at bay. Thank a bleeding heart today!!

We can brag about Columbia

We can brag about Columbia County! Keep the thugs and their boom boxes in RC. There is not near the crime in CC as RC. Anybody that believes otherwise is just fooling themselves. Ride down Peach Orchard Rd. and then take a stroll down Columbia Rd. See the difference. Hear the difference.
