Man in hospital after tumble over north Georgia waterfall

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Authorities say a man who fell about 40 feet down a waterfall in Glade Shoals is recovering in an Atlanta hospital.

Authorities have not identified the man or released any details on what he was doing near the waterfall. Hall County Fire Chief Kimbrell says the man was airlifted Monday to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Kimbrell says rescuers had to cut gates and locks and use ropes to access the area where the man was.

No other details were immediately available Monday afternoon.
