LITHIA SPRINGS, Ga. — Authorities have placed six officers on paid administrative leave after the fatal shooting of a man outside a Lithia Springs motel.

Both the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Douglasville police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 50-year old Dennis Hamby. He died Saturday night in the parking lot of a Motel 6.

Family members allege he was shot nine times. Authorities are trying to get questions answered, but tell Atlanta's FOX 5 News that three officers actually fired their weapons and a total of six are on administrative leave.

Authorities have not released the names of the officers placed on administrative leave.
