SC truck wreck blocks I-95 traffic

SANTEE, S.C. — Interstate 95's southbound lanes are blocked in South Carolina by a wreck that killed one person and injured two others who had been trapped in a tractor trailer cab.

Orangeburg County Fire District director Gene Ball told multiple media outlets the wreck happened about 4 a.m. Friday on I-95 at the U.S. 176 crossover south of Santee.

Ball says one person died and two others were hurt when the rig overturned. The names of the victims have not been released.

He says four crews worked to get the people out of the truck. Fire department crews, three heavy wreckers and two helicopters were at the scene.

Ball says the Highway Patrol is detouring traffic around the area, just north of I-26. U.S. 176 is also closed.
