Three wounded in afternoon shooting

A man is being sought in the shooting of three people, including a child, on Second Avenue  this afternoon.
Richmond County sheriff's deputies are seeking Jerome Jerrod Sturgis, also known as "Dirt." Considered armed and dangerous, Sturgis was last seen about 5:30 p.m. wearing a Dallas Mavericks jersey, blue jeans and riding a black mountain bike.
The victims were Darnell Lorenzo Brown, 19, who was shot in the head; Darren Wayne Howard, 19, who was shot in the hand; and a 12-year-old boy, who was shot in the chest, according to James Kelly of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Division.
All three were taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, according to authorities, although an MCG spokeswoman said the hospital had no record of their conditions.
Witnesses said people had gathered outside a residence at 1929 Second Ave. when someone started shooting from a clearing.
