Hephzibah man wins $500,000 lottery prize

A 59-year-old Hephzibah man won the top prize – $500,000 – from the Georgia Lottery’s Jumbo Jumbo Bucks instant game.

Berry Thomas, an electrician, won the winning scratch-off ticket at the Need More Kuntry Store, 4212 Windsor Spring Road, Hephzibah, according to a release from the Georgia Lottery.

Thomas and his wife, Brenda, have three adult children and two grandchildren.

“I was pretty calm,” he said after his big win. “I’m happy.”

He plans to invest his winnings.
