Indictment in bribery case

 The Richmond County grand jury indicted an Augusta lawyer on Tuesday, charging him in the 2009 bribery attempt of two city commissioners. 

 

According to court records,  David W. Fry, is accused of trying to bribe Mayor Pro Tem Alvin Mason and Commissioner Corey Johnson last summer to change their votes to fund Augusta's trade center.

Authorities were alerted and Fry was arrested.

The city went ahead with plans to build the trade center and an official ground-breaking takes place today.
