ATLANTA - Atlanta police are trying to determine the motive behind a shooting in the parking lot of a special events facility on Piedmont Road that left two people dead.

Atlanta police Maj. Keith Meadows told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the shooting occurred Saturday afternoon in the parking lot where apparently a group of people had planned to meet.

Meadows said at least two dozen shots were fired from at least three weapons. One person died at the scene and another died at an Atlanta hospital. Meadows said another person was seriously injured.
