Police are looking for a man they say fired several shots, striking an Augusta teen at a high school graduation party in Martinez early this morning.

A 19-year-old was shot in the leg in the parking lot of Crawford Cabinets, 3831 Oak Drive, where a large Academy of Richmond County graduation party was being held, according to Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris.

The teen said she was in the parking lot at about 12:30 a.m., when she saw a fight between several young men. She told police she ran to her car when she heard gunshots. As she fled, the teen was shot in the leg, according to a sheriff's office incident report.

When police arrived regarding calls about gunshots fired in the parking lot, they were unable to find the shooter or the teen victim. The teen had driven herself and a friend to University Hospital for treatment.

At the hospital, the teen told police she did not know who shot her.

A 54-year-old witness told police he saw a black man about 19-years-old fire a pistol four or five time in the parking lot. The shooter then ran away, according to the witness.

Anyone with information about the identity of whereabouts of the shooter should call the Columbia County Sheriff's Office at (706) 541-1044.

And now that he has received

And now that he has received excellent education in Richmond county's well adiministered system, he will be able to devote all his time to his life of criminal activity. Maybe this sounds harsh, but what need does a teenager have for carrying a weapon to a party with his peers?

It would be difficult to

It would be difficult to convince me that someone who lives in Martinez snuck their kids into ARC rather than just take the bus to LHS.

If the shooter is found, they

If the shooter is found, they will be charged with possession of a firearm by an underage person. I agree usafvet - kids are not allowed to have guns. If the gun is recovered, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts, that it is a stolen weapon. Stupid punk.

Crawford Cabinet is in Columbia County, but it is very close to the Richmond County line. Hopefully, Kayla actually lives in Richmond County if she is attending a Richmond County public school. I would have thought that the areas near the Columbia County line at Martinez would have been zoned for Westside, but I guess that the new IB program at ARC makes zoning issues fuzzy.

Yeah, graduation makes you a

Yeah, graduation makes you a grown up. Parties at 12:30 on a Tuesday night, in a parking lot, with strangers with guns. If the police had shown up earlier, they would have been the bad guys for spoiling all the fun the new grown ups were having.

What a lowlife. He was

What a lowlife. He was probably mad because he was to stu stu stupid to finish high school himself. Maybe the next time, and you know there will be one, instead of randomly shooting and hitting a young girl his next victim will be armed too, shoot back and save the taxpayers a lot of money over the next 50 years.

Trey Enfantay, You act like Columbia County is some county on a pedestal. Didn't they just have one of the biggest drug bust ever? People can go anywhere they want no matter what the county is. Also, I really hope that isn't really you on that people. If it is, please stay in Columbia County.

I took a differnt view. I

I took a differnt view. I question what the people in the neighborhood are thinking. Why didn't one of them call the sheriffs office about the noise at 12:30 AM? Are they so afraid of the little punks that anything goes? It is the same in my neighborhood, home owners afraid to call the police on the little punks blaring their music at all hours of the night. I feel like I am the only one who cares about their property, and I do call if I can pinpoint where the noise comes from. But most od Woodlake is a bunch of cowards, afraid of their own shadow.

Disssman, the cabinet shop is

Disssman, the cabinet shop is not in a residential neighborhood. It is a light industrial, warehouse area behind the shopping center where Lowe's is. Those businesses would be closed at 12:30 a.m. and there would be not too many people hearing the noise of this party.

Hmmmm, I notice that

Hmmmm, I notice that kaylabelam deleted the contents of her post. That was where she implied that she is a Columbia County resident, but attends Academy of Richmond County. I gave her the benefit of the doubt in my post above, but by her deleting her post, she is leaving suspicion that she attends public school outside her residence county.

Anybody know Kayla and want to set the record straight?

I gave my cook a ride to her

I gave my cook a ride to her friends place the other day. I would NOT have driven her there if i knew where it was. Upon my pulling in just a few blocks from 401 Walton Way i could hear the underage kids offer her and i a GUN for sale. I burned rubber out of there.

Why are guns being hawked by teenagers to ANYONE passing by just blocks from our police headquarters???

My bet is that gun came from that part of town. Frankly I think the cops who sleep all day on the river in our patrol cars should be assigned to night duty so they can arrest those that sleep all day and steal & sell guns all night so surrounding counties don’t have to put up with Richmond counties FLEAS
