DeKalb investigates ambulance delay

DECATUR, Ga. - DeKalb County officials are investigating why it took an ambulance 22 minutes to get to a soccer player with a head injury.

The player, 16-year-old Jonathan Brown, and his team from Upson-Lee High School in Thomaston were visiting DeKalb County last week for a state soccer playoff game.

Brown, the team's goalie, collided with a Lakeside player and fell, grasping his head.

Dispatch records show an ambulance was dispatched four minutes after a call was received, but took another 18 minutes to get to the field.

DeKalb County Commissioner Jeff Rader says he's concerned about the delay.

Brown was treated at a hospital for a concussion and has returned to school.
