Man arrested after calling cops

A wanted man who was admittedly smoking crack cocaine called police on Tuesday to report his keys stolen.

The suspect, Michael Studdard, 45, reported around 6 a.m. that he was smoking crack in room 116 of the Augusta Lodge when two men grabbed his arms and forcefully took the key to his vehicle out of his pocket, a report states.

Studdard ran to a nearby gas station on the 2500 block of Peach Orchard Road to report the robbery. A deputy said he found the truck still parked outside room 116 and that a computer check of the tag revealed the pickup was stolen out of McDuffie County.

Studdard, of the 1500 block of Gordon Highway, was placed in custody as a suspect in the pickup's theft and for an outstanding warrant from Greene County.
