Meeting to boost community effort

A group of local residents will meet Tuesday to gather input on a new program that seeks to increase youth community involvement and dissuade gang activity.

Joey Traina, campaign director for Peace on the Streets, will meet with community members at 7 p.m. at the Inner Bean Café, 139 Davis Rd., Martinez, to gather community input and volunteers for after-school programs such as homework help, mentoring and neighborhood beautification. Traina will also lead a presentation on how his campaign will use a grassroots effort to dissuade youth from gang affiliation and violence.
