Angel Burley knew a golfer was coming to her drive-thru window at Krispy Kreme Doughuts on Washington Road by the pass on his windshield. It wasn't until she saw the green jacket that she realized who it was.

Masters champion Phil Mickelson, wearing his green jacket Monday, went through the drive-through of the Krispy Kreme doughnut store on Washington Road, about a mile away from the golf course.

Burley, a worker at the store, said she peered out of the window Monday to find a smiling Phil Mickelson and his daughter.

"When I opened the window I see the green jacket," Burley said. "I said: 'You won yesterday,' and he started smiling and said, 'Yeah.' "

Burley said her boyfriend made her watch the tournament on Sunday so she knew exactly who was ordering at her window. Mickelson placed an order for a dozen each of glazed, chocolate and mixed donuts, she said. Burley said she and her coworkers all snapped photos of the Masters champion before handing over his order.

Greg Carswell, manager for the store, said he snapped the photo of Mickelson in the jacket. He also handed over the order of doughnuts for free to the champ.

"He was humble," Carswell said. "You would think it was just a regular day for him."

Burley said it was no surprise to see golfers at the store. All week, they had been stopping by. On Monday, she said, she suspected another green jacket wearer.

"I thought it was Fuzzy (Zoeller) coming back through," she said.

I guess winners have privileges b/c those green jackets are only allowed off the property to be cleaned. Great tourney for Phil!

Giving the champ the

Giving the champ the doughnuts was a gracious gesture, especially now that "dollars to doughnuts" is the current rate of exchange.

Unpublished

How neat is that! A regular guy dad going to Krispy Kreme with his daughter ... except that this regular guy's wearing the green jacket for having won one of the world's most prestigious golf tournaments the day before. Phil's a great guy and a refreshing change from the negative publicity recently brought on the game. Way to go Phil!

Hey, I'm the guy who won

Hey, I'm the guy who won yesterday! Did he really need to wear the green jacket around town? I can just see Jack, Arnie or Tiger going to Wendy's the day after they won their 3RD, not 1st green jacket. I think great role models are the one's who dont need to tell you (Yes, wearing your green jacket the day after you won for the 3rd time is telling people) what they have accomplished. People like Tim Duncan, Barry Sanders, Ben Hogan all come to mind. All great at what they do, but you would never know it by their actions. Walk softly and carry a big stick. Maybe I'm wrong and Phil is just a goofy, dork who likes to draw attention to his green jacket.

AGR354, coming from a Phil

AGR354, coming from a Phil fan, I'll take that as a compliment. Funny how you chose not to even to discuss some of the other great one's low key personalities and just went with, "Your an idiot" cause you dont agree with Phil wearing his jacket around town. Whatever makes you feel good, friend. I'm sorry if I root for the Tom Watsons and Arnold Palmers of the world. These men wouldnt be prancing around Augusta in their jacket especially not after their 3rd one. And yes, I realize T. Watson only won two. You are probably a "Get in the hole!"(after a player hits a tee shot on a par 5) or "You da Man!" kind of person. hahaha...I love those too

Well let me say....DOES it

Well let me say....DOES it MATTER!!!!! I worked at Radio Shack when he came in one time and to buy an adapter for his DVD player. He might have been headed to an appearance..Any of you rude jealous commenters think of that. I think he has a right to feel good and wear the jacket he earned it. It may be for his daughter but still does it matter. I would be he would have paid for them and left extra because he is just the kind of person that cares and basically knows what it is like to be low on the totem pole per say.
