A man told officers that he was robbed at gunpoint outside his room at a downtown motel late Saturday night.
The robbery happened about 10:30 p.m. at the Budget Inn at 441 Broad St., according to a Richmond County sheriff's report. The man told officers that the robber approached him on the stairs outside his room and demanded money at gunpoint. The man gave him about $60, and the robber fled.
The robber was described as black, between 20 and 35 years old, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was wearing a purple shirt and blue jeans.
I can't wait until the new Holiday Inn Express opens up across from the Budget Inn down there on Broad Street. Has there been any word on the city improving public safety down there?
These Hotel/Motel robberies are getting alittle too common. Travelers beware.
