MESENA, Ga. - A 49-year-old man died in a fire at his Warren County home Friday night, authorities say.
Warren County Deputy Coroner Sandy Yelton identified the victim as Llewellyn Duval Reese, who lived on the 3400 block of Old Wire Road. An autopsy was performed at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Augusta today. Although autopsy results are pending, Yelton said preliminary indications are that Reese died of smoke inhalation.
Mr. Reese's body was found in his frame home shortly after 9 p.m. Friday. He was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m. after firefighters with the Warren County Fire/Rescue Services extinguished the blaze, according to Nicki Thigpen, public information officer for the fire department.
The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen, Yelton said.
