Atlanta rape suspect on the run

Ga. man facing rape retrial flees

ATLANTA - Fulton County authorities say a convicted rapist out on bond awaiting retrial has removed his ankle monitor and is on the run.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office is asking for help locating Ali Reza Nejad. The 38-year-old has been out of jail on a $100,000 bond since April, and as a condition of his bond, he was supposed to wear an ankle monitor.

Nejad learned recently that his bond was to be revoked Monday. Now authorities say he's a fugitive, and the sheriff's office says it has initiated an intensive manhunt.

Authorities say he's considered dangerous and the public is strongly advised not to approach him.

A reward of up to $2,000 has been offered for information leading to his capture. Tipsters should call 404-577-8477 or 404-577-TIPS.
