Two Richmond County students have gone before a school system tribunal after authorities say they had oral sex while on a school bus on the campus of Josey High.
School system reports released this week for tribunals held on Feb. 26 stated that on Feb. 9 a Davidson Fine Arts School student performed oral sex on a Josey High student while they were on the bus. The students' names weren't listed, but the report stated that both admitted being guilty to a violation of Rule 8 in the Code of Student Conduct and Discipline, which addresses illicit or immoral activities by a student.
The Davidson student was assigned to her zoned school and "the panel showed leniency" to her because she reported the incidents and took responsibility for her actions, according to the report.
The Josey student was suspended 20 days, with the option to attend the Tubman Education Center Alternative Program in lieu of long term suspension. The tribunal panel stated that it also showed leniency to him "due to his past record and him taking responsibility for his actions."
Have oral sex on a school bus, and nothing will happen to you- as long as you admit it.

I'm glad that this sex wasn' t a "diversity" relationship. Imagine the problem the schools would have had punishing the couple.
"school system tribunal" should be your first clue as to why no significant punishment was handed out. How about "the adults in charge expelled both of them for the rest of the year and they will have to repeat the grade next year". School system tribunal, another laughable progressive invention.
Who is actually on these tribunal panels? They need a class in English grammar. The quote, "due to his past record and him taking responsibility for his actions," is not standard English. The better form is, ". . . and his taking responsibility for his actions."
OH NO! A Davidson "God-Like" student got in trouble. I am shocked that the BOE allowed their precious school's name to make the paper.
99 students having sex on the bus, 99 students having sex. Two get caught, 97 students having sex on the bus. 97 students having sex on the bus, 97 students having sex. Two get caught, 95 students having sex on the bus and on and on.
AugustaVoter lol. I sense the sarcasm. But Davidson is the number 1 ranked school in GA for SAT scores. I agree ppl think the kids at better perfoming schools are all saints.
um. why is this in the paper? i think this kind of thing was going on when i was in high school, too, and even maybe when jesus was, but i don't remember stories in the paper about it or suspensions (or was it just one suspension?). if schools want to prevent this stuff, go ahead, we probably all agree you should. but talking about specific instances and acts and having TRIBUNALS and what else? that's not going to give these kids issues at all. wow. i'm surprised there weren't photos.
The reason Davidson has the higher test scores is because they don't report the lower test scores. Also, that school is not made of cherry picked individuals with talent, it is more on who has money.
Ya know .... with parents like the one we read about yesterday, that encouraged her "INFANT" son to perform sex acts on a stuffed animal. Heck! what do you think is gonna happen. Adults need to show some restraints themselves.
Well I commend the boy, at least he did not pull a Bill Clinton. "I did not have relations with that girl, it was just oral sex."
Some ppl love to hate on Davidson. The school continues to beat every school in GA. Including Dekalb School of Arts, Savannah Academy, and the rich schools in metro Atlanta. Davidson students are white, black, asian, hispanic, poor, working class, middle class, upper middle class, rich, and wealthy.
The girl reported the incident? That's like turning in your friend because you helped him rob a bank, and he didn't give you a big enough cut. Or either she was awful proud and wanted someone really important to know what she had done.
wait a minute....wait a minute...wait a minute...both kids were wrong in what they did. How come the student from Josey got suspended and the student from "prestine" Davidson got a slap on the wrist? That is injustice at the lowest level. To equal it all out, the two of them should have been suspended.
The discipline given to the Davidson student is another example of the wussification of America and Richmond County BOE.
Man it seems one sided to me ...you can get off as long as you go to Davidson Fine Arts....both students should have had the same punishment...they committed the same infraction....DOUBLESTANDARDS at its best!!!!
I can imagine that Columbia County BOE would have tried to deny a story like this by stating that the students were not participating in oral sex but merely having a sexual discussion...

I can't tell you how much I hate to publically agree with Countyman, just on principle because of my hatred of the relentless good cheer; however, s/he is correct about Davidson students demographic make-up. It has to do with smarts, talent and evidence of self-discipline and commitment. If those traits are more characteristic the more well-off the person or family, well, perhaps an intelligent person who possesses critical thinking ability might conclude that people with those abilities and character attributes tend to be more successful.
Gosh. What a novel idea. Smarts, talent, hard work and dedication produce good results. Who knew!
Nevertheless, these kids were disgusting and they're very fortunate they didn't get worse punishment. Both got set back a level. It will have a much greater impact on the Davidson student because of the huge loss of prestige and opportunity. Colleges will take note that she got the boot for bad behavior, which automatically puts tier one institutions out of her reach.
She might have been a Nobel Prize winning researcher or doctor, or a Supreme Court justice, but for this little roll in the vinyl.
You'd think at least she would have been smarter than to do this, on the bus of all places.
I doubt she wanted anyone to know this, school peers are ruthless to say the least. Can you imagine if she goes back to school there? If I were her parents I would MOVE. or put her in school that never knew of the incident. Classmates will be high-fiven the boy. Put that on your resume, extra curricular school activity. Girls SERIOUSLY, THINK before you ACT. Your actions will come back and HAUNT YOU.

Ok, so the girl won't be able to go to 1st tier colleges...she'll only be able to get into UGA, S. Car, Clemson, UofF, etc., how tragic! The boy gets sent to alternative school...what college is going to NOT see that on his record? He couldn't have been that bad a student, because it says that his school record and his admitting to doing it, saved him from a longterm suspension. This is favoritism if I haven't seen any! They both should have gotten the same punishment, no matter what!

It was wrong of the tribunal to just put her back at her zoned school and suspend him. That is blatent sexual discrimination and totally unfair.
Why does he get Tubman and she didn't? It wouldn't be racial discrimination, would it?
Schools teach your children NON-STOP that they came from apes IN WRITING. If the kids say they didn't come from apes, they fail them. Then your kids act like apes, and you're all shocked. How bought if we return to the fact that all of history disapears 6-7,000 ago without a trace of evolutions DEBUNKED "Planet of the apes" that supposedly morphed into all of mankind. This is what your property tax dollars are spent to teach.
