AIKEN - A man is in serious condition at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics after being hit by a train in Bath this morning.
The man, whose name has not been released, was sitting on train tracks near Loop Drive around 10 a.m. with a female companion when he was alerted to an oncoming train, said Aiken County Sheriff's Sgt. Dave Myers.
The woman got off the train tracks, but the man, while attempting to remove his motorcycle from the tracks, was hit by the Norfolk-Southern train, Sgt. Myers said. He received injuries to his head and legs, and is in serious condition at MCG.
"We're unclear whether the motorcycle and the train hit him while he was trying to leave or just the train," he said.
The victim could face a trespassing charge due to the train tracks being private property, Sgt. Myers said.
"If I am stuck on railroad tracks, I will try to save my motorcycle. I have priorities, you know."
LOL Corgi..
Who cares whether the train hit the bike, therefore hitting the man. Or the train itself hit him. Point is, his dumb behind was in an area he had no business being in and got his behind hit! Obviously no common sense in either the male or female.
What on earth were they thinking? Oh wait, that's right.. They weren't!!
Regardless of the man's lapse in sense, I do hope he heals from his injuries. The woman has to be beyond tramatized, not to mention the train conducter..
Well RK, that might would explain why he risked his life for a bike!!
Then again, if you loved it so much, why did you park it ON the tracks??
I love the title of this story... Hit by a train...on tracks? No way!
A Darwin award nominee interviewing a potential breeding mate but she proved to be too smart for him.
I am wondering what type of activity was taking place that required them to linger when they were "altered" to the oncoming train? And I must agree that I would have parked my Harley off of the tracks, and walked to the young lady! But then again, I am not sure of the area, and would the bike be there when got finished with track business and went to go for a spin on the asphalt.
There is no such thing as a stealth train. The tracks are the give-away. When near tracks, an oncoming train can be detected from far away. I detect some missing facts when this story is told.
It's simple, she got off, but he didn't!
Ouch themaninthemirror, good one though.
