FOLKSTON - A Homeland, Ga., woman has accused Charlton County Commissioner Dallas Huling Jr. of stalking.
In her petition filed in Superior Court, Mary C. Burke accused Huling of leaving dozens of notes on her door, repeatedly driving by her home, calling her place of employment and following her.
According to an incident report filed Feb. 28, a deputy sheriff interviewing Burke at her home saw Huling drive past in his pickup truck.
Monday, Superior Court Judge Mike Boggs issued stalking protective orders that prohibit Huling and Burke from coming within 500 yards of each other, their homes, places of employment or children's school.
Violation of the order will result in "immediate arrest and criminal prosecution," the judge ordered.
Stalking is a misdemeanor in Georgia.
County Manager Steve Nance said there is nothing in the court order that will prevent Huling from continuing his duties as commissioner.

Is Mr. Huling a married man? Suppose he takes this stalking order seriously and is trying to stay away from her, and she purposely gets within 500 yards of him? Do their children go to different schools? If not, this could pose a definite problem. Why is he stalking her? Did they have a fling which she does not want to continue? Or is he enamored with her and can't live without her? This is a story involving people who are so far away from us that we can not make an informed opinion on this situation.
A restraining order is just another way of saying, "I love you"!
